New Technology Revolutionises Locking system Management

ASSA ABLOY Sicherheitstechnik GmbH is setting a milestone in locking system management with this new product development. The new CLIQ remote technology for VERSO CLIQ and +CLIQ systems, which is composed of the new web manager software, the innovative new mobile programming device and the wall-mounted programming unit, now enables convenient and flexible access to the locking system management system via the internet. ‘And that at any time and from any location’, emphasises Alexander Kroll of ASSA ABLOY product management.

The new web manager software and programming devices can control the granting of locking rights and assign this task to different users. It also makes it possible to manage CLIQ locking systems regardless of time and place.  ‘For our customers, this means is a real added value for their locking system management value chain’, says Kroll. ‘First presented at the SECURITY convention, this new technology underscores our diligent work in research and new development as well as our activity in innovation, which enables us to provide our customers with future-oriented cutting-edge technology on a regular basis.’

Internet-based web manager software forms the basis of IKON’s CLIQ technology. This makes it possible to access the locking system management system via internet. ‘What this means in practice is that the administrator is completely independent and can manage the locking system with the web manager at any time from any location with access to the internet. This could be at his office, a field office or even in the train, for instance. This is a great benefit, especially to large companies which are spread across multiple sites.’, says Alexander Kroll. Additional features of the high-performance software include the multi-user function, simple menu operation and the interfaces which are individually tailored to different users.

IKON’s system is complemented by a mobile programming device and a wall-mounted programming unit. ‘These components provide users with automated locking media administration which does not depend on what time it is’, Alexander Kroll explains. ‘The locking system user can use the wall-mounted programming unit to obtain changes to his locking rights independently, or (and this is completely new) he can receive them using the mobile programming device.’ For instance, this means that the VERSO CLIQ E3 key provides a service technician with access to the building which is not restricted by time by using his mobile programming device and mobile phone.

‘CLIQ remote technology saves the user time and money’, says Alexander Kroll. ‘Whereas the administrator used to have to start reprogramming each locking cylinder and the user had to have the administrator change his access rights for him directly, all of this can now be accomplished easily and conveniently by using the new programming device. The programming process is carried out automatically here; the user is informed of the progress by visual and acoustic signals.’ At the same time, the new user roles and the user interfaces adapted to them enable distributed administration. This means that employees at the reception desk, too, can now use the web manager software to manage locking rights quickly and flexibly for visitors’ keys. No separate software installation is required for the mobile radio devices which send changes in authorisation for the user keys to the mobile programming device. The data is transferred via USB or Bluetooth.

128-bit SSL encryption in combination with software certificates ensures that the internet connection is secure. The platform-independent software design and the use of a central server make for simple integration into existing system landscapes. ‘What's more, simple standard cables are used to connect the wall-mounted programming units’, Alexander Kroll adds.
