The Bosch Rexroth AG puts its trust in VERSO CLIQ “Flexibility and post-supply warranty have convinced us”

Lohr am Main - With its VERSO CLIQ locking system the Bosch Rexroth AG is going for double security for its works in Lohr am Main: VERSO CLIQ is the intelligent locking technology that combines highly developed microelectronics with intelligent data encryption in a very secure mechanical locking cylinder system. Thus the IKON locking system offers more security and flexibility. If, as at Bosch Rexroth, operational and organizational demands on the security technology grow and the locking system is extended or authorizations have to be changed that is possible at any time controlled by the software.

Flexible protection for long standing technological know-how

The Bosch Rexroth AG is a company of the Bosch Group. It was formed on 1 May 2001 from the merging of the Bosch Automationstechnik and the Mannesmann Rexroth AG. Under the umbrella of the Bosch Rexroth AG are thus united the experience and knowledge of an industrial tradition of more than 200 years. The Robert Bosch GmbH originated in 1886; the history of Rexroth goes back to 1795 – a long company history that holds great technological know-how. Team- and project-orientated tasks or restructuring works at all levels of the company require a rapid and flexible adjustment of access authorizations. “Our company is constantly on the move: on the basis of re- and new structuring we very often had to exchange locking cylinders,” remembers Konrad Schreier, Head of Plant Security at Bosch Rexroth. “With VERSO CLIQ we can now assign, withdraw or change access authorizations in any way within the shortest time.” At the same time VERSO CLIQ offers hight protection: Particularly in sensitive areas such as research, technology and the IT area strict security regulations are in force that require a hierarchical access. “Alongside clear access rules with VERSO CLIQ we can now also check who last unlocked the room,” explains Konrad Schreier. Authorized access to a lost key can simply be removed by reprogramming the cylinders. For anyone possessing the key illegitimately it then becomes immediately worthless. Thus comprehensive security is offered and also the laborious and expensive replacement of locking cylinders is removed.  “With VERSO CLIQ we are focusing on double security,” the Bosch Rexroth Security Specialist knows. “The mechatronic system combines highly developed microelectronics with intelligent data encryption. For us, that means that our office, department, main and side entrance doors are as reliably mechanically locked as with the previous system, but are additionally secured by electronic identification.”

Impressive argument: security of investment and post-supply warranty

Alongside the high system-flexibility, the stability of value of the IKON locking systems and also the continuity with respect to supply and deliverability were an argument at Bosch Rexroth for VERSO CLIQ. “A longstanding business relationship connects us with ASSA ABLOY Sicherheitstechnik GmbH. As far back as 1957 the company, which was then still Zeiss IKON, installed the first mechanical system for us,” according to Schreier. “We are building on this continuity. In this respect we have had excellent experiences with IKON. A prime reason for us also to put our money on the IKON brand with the mechatronic locking system. Cost-saving modular system

The robust VdS- and DIN-certified locking cylinders and the modular system convinced the Bosch Rexroth Safety Specialist of VERSO CLIQ: The modular system makes the locking cylinder modifiable in length by means of various extensions and the connection via a crossbar. So the locking cylinders no longer need to be replaced at a restructuring but can be extended without great effort and thus be fitted to any door leaf thickness. “With this system no new cylinders need to be bought. Here too the purchase costs add up,” explains Konrad Schreier and adds: “The same applies for the power supply.” With VERSO CLIQ the power supply and also the communication with the locking cylinder take place exclusively via key and programming key. Conversion work on the doors and expensive wiring procedures are therefore not needed. The normal commercial batteries in the key can be exchanged by the plant operator himself. “We are 100 percent satisfied. VERSO CLIQ is a first class product that pays for itself within a short time.”
