Challenge:

Bavarian Duke Wilhelm V. commissioned the construction of the Hofbräuhaus in Munich on 27 September 1589 as a brewery to supply the Wittelsbacher Hof. The brewery moved location at the end of the 19th century and architect Max Littmann built a new Neorenaissance-style inn, which was severely damaged during World War II and underwent reconstruction until 1958. It is now considered the world’s most famous inn and attracts large numbers of tourists. In addition to around 3,500 regular guests, the majority of the guests come from Munich and the surrounding area.

The requirements for a new master key system in the Hofbräuhaus were clearly specified: Access authorisations for employees and service providers in the Hofbräuhaus, as well as in the company’s own production facility for high-quality food in Brunntal, had to be as easy as possible to manage. Monument preservation requirements also had to be complied with, and simple installation was essential

Solution:

The Hofbräuhaus opted for the proven eCLIQ locking system from IKON. Every key has an integrated chip. As a result, keys can be programmed individually for each user. The versatility of eCLIQ is truly demonstrated when a key has been lost. Key access authorisations can be removed individually by reprogramming locking cylinders. Access authorisations can also be enabled on a time-limited basis for external service providers such as cleaners. The keys and cylinders are also compatible with the high monument preservation requirements and the installation situations of the doors, and are optimally integrated into the building concept.

The master key system can be managed via an easily scaleable and flexible Cloud-based platform with the CLIQ® Web Manager. With the hosting solution chosen by Hofbräuhaus, the data is also stored securely at ASSA ABLOY. This means that the data can be accessed at any time and from any location. The software is especially well-suited for management of large master key systems or in multiple locations with large distances between them.
